Square Construction

  • We are accepting traditional patterned blocks as well as blocks that portray an historic event or scene in Old Lyme.

  • Color Palette: Squares should reflect the shared color palette of red, white and blue. Squares portraying scenes may include additional colors.

  • All squares should be CUT exactly to measure 12" x 12". This includes a 1" margin (seam allowance) around the entire square. Therefore, the FINISHED design area should measure 10" x 10".

  • Blocks can be pieced, appliquéd, or a combination of the two.

  • The use of quality permanent fabric markers is acceptable.

  • Fabric glue is acceptable.

Completion Deadlines

  • Quilt Squares are due to Old Lyme's Town Hall May 22nd through May 29th.

  • Tape or pin your name and phone number to the square before dropping off.

The Final Quilt is expected to be unveiled at the Townwide Picnic on Sunday July 5th.

The Quilt will then be on display in Old Lyme's Memorial Town Hall.

An online photo gallery of quilt squares will be showcased along with each quilter's name.
