12pm-4pm

Old Lyme residents are invited to Town Woods Park on Sunday, July 5th to celebrate together our country's birthday.
Bring your picnic makings, and enjoy an afternoon of music and community.

Bring A Picnic. We will have plenty of room to spread out on the fields at Town Woods. Bring a blanket or a fold-up table for your spread. But most importantly, come to the park ready to enjoy a relaxing and fun afternoon with other Old Lymers! Details on what you can or can not bring can be found at the bottom of this page.

Enjoy something from the Lions Club grill. The Lyme-Old Lyme Lions Club will be on hand selling their popular burgers and dogs, as well as potato chips and lemonade & bottled water. If keeping it simple is your game plan, then the Lions Club is here to help! Stay tuned for more details.

Dance to some Live Music. Nightshift will be on hand with the best-loved tracks of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. This five-piece group brings audience members of all ages to their feet!

Eat a pie fast. Win a sack race even faster. Adults and kids will have the chance to show their skill at a few planned games, including a pie-eating contest and a sack race.

Bring your best creativity to the table. Not a requirement by any means, but if you'd like to get in the spirit, we will be judging tablescapes of those who register. Will you win Most Patriotic, Most Historic, Beach-Theme Picnic, Park-Theme Picnic or Most Creative? Ribbons will be awarded! (photo by Farfromthefarm.com)

Have a fun day with the kids. Our picnic will be family-friendly and will have some fun play items on hand plus the Town Woods playground. (We ask that children be accompanied by an adult at all times during the picnic.)

Check out our Community's Quilt. Folks in Old Lyme are contributing quilt blocks to make one community quilt. See the finished product as it is unveiled at the picnic!

Learn about the food garden. Hear about the Lyme-Old Lyme Food Share Garden, on site at Town Woods Park. The volunteer garden crew grows and donates fresh produce to reduce food insecurity and support healthy nutrition in Lyme, Old Lyme, and surrounding communities.

This page will continue to grow with details,
come back for all the latest.

The Picnic will be held Rain or Shine on Sunday, July 5, 2026, 12pm-4pm. The picnic is for Old Lyme residents (both full time and seasonal).

Parking:
Parking will be available onsite at Town Woods Park and we will potentially have a shuttle bus from the High Hopes parking lot next door.

Drop off: We are planning a drop-off circle where you can have someone with your party dropped off close to the field with your picnic makings.

What you Can Bring: Do bring your picnic food and ensure it is kept cool as appropriate in coolers, etc. Picnickers might consider bringing a blanket or fold-up table, along with easy to carry chairs. A pop-up tent will protect you from rain or sun. Please ensure everyone in your party has adequate sun protection and hydration.

What you Can Not Bring: No Open Flames including hibachis, grills, candles. No pets. No firearms. We ask that you please refrain from allowing children to bicycle or skateboard in the parking lot - it will be a busy time with cars seeking parking spaces.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the picnic.

Lions Club Grill: The Lions Club will be selling burgers and hot dogs, as well as potato chips, lemonade, bottled water, and potentially other items. The Lions Club is able to accept cash or credit card. Prices will be posted here once the final menu is determined.
